Co-founder of Place Projects, Alanna Herrera, is curious, creative, strong, and strange. Alanna is an educator and artist with a background in community organizing and museum education, among other things like waiting tables, processing black and white film and photos, painting faces, walking dogs, film location scouting, cleaning houses, and being a spokes model for barely edible chili at monster truck shows (you can't make this stuff up!). She loves to work through problems by experimenting and collaborating with others. She also enjoys researching folklore, lifting heavy things, painting pretend plants, being a mermaid, shooting arrows at non-living things, among other activities.

She also just got a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education. Just call her Master Alanna. Or Captain Awesome. Whichever you prefer.
